In their final home match, the Saint James wrestling team dominated Smithsburg, showcasing their skill, strength, and leadership. The night wasn’t just about the win: it was a celebration of senior wrestlers Gabe Robinson, Shohin Farukhzod, Derek Owumi, Greer Lotsikas, and Wilbert and Gilbert Oduro. These athletes have been the backbone of the team, and this evening was their chance to shine one last time.

The match kicked off with a strong victory from Jacob Versino (5th form), followed by Mikey, who was on fire, taking his opponent down with aggressive slams and leading the Saints to a 16-4 lead. Aiden Murphy (3rd-form) continued the momentum with a solid pin, bringing the score to 23-6. Anthony also added a win to the score board making it 29-6.
But the real moment of the night came from Gilbert Oduro, who won his very first match ever at Saint James, sending the crowd into a frenzy. It was a moment of raw emotion and excitement. Gabe Robinson, a 6th-form senior, kept the momentum going with a commanding 41-6 pin, further solidifying the Saints’ dominance.
Finally, Greer Lotsikas, the last to wrestle, capped off the evening with a performance that reflected the strength and unity of the entire team. It was a perfect way to honor the seniors and their contributions to the team.
To the seniors—Gabe, Shohin, Derek, Greer, Wilbert, and Gilbert—congratulations on an unforgettable career at Saint James. Your hard work and leadership have left a lasting impact. Good luck in all your future endeavors and thank you for everything you’ve given to this team.
